My soggy commute across Pearl Harbor was cut short

We had a little bit of storm out here on the island of Oahu. It’s rare that we get this much rain on the Ewa side of the island. But it has been coming down.

As you know by know, I ride my beach cruiser to the near by Naval Magazine. That takes me about 12-15 minutes. I then kayak across Pearl Harbor to Hickam Air Force Base where I leave my truck all week. That leg takes me about 9-12 minutes. The last leg of my commute is driving to Tripler Army Medical Center. That leg is about 20 min.

So, as you can see it was raining today and when I got to my kayak, I called Port Control to gain access to the kayak lane across Pearl Harbor. Yes, we have to ask for access. Trust me, if we go out there without authorization from port control, we will be confronted by a Navy patrol boat.

Well, access was denied today. Which is very rare. I’ve been held up for an inbound or outbound vessel of some sort. Either a ship or a submarine. The lane has also been shut down once or twice for Navy exercises in the harbor. But the kayak lane has never been shut down for weather.

Oh well, I went home, called into work and said I won’t make it today.

You know what I did then?

Yup, I went back to bed with my lady and we slept for about another hour and then just spent the day together.

I hope you enjoyed your day.
